Vorig seizoen nog de finale gehaald en dit seizoen kansloos voor de play-off. In ieder geval het seizoen positief afsluiten met het liefst 2 overwinningen was de collectieve gedachte.
Om 8 uur ‘s ochtends werd er verzameld bij het Horstman Sportpark en kort daarna werd de 3 uur durende reis naar Maastricht aangevangen om aan te treden tegen de Wildcats.
Op het prachtige sportpark in Maastricht werd er om 14:00 afgetrapt in de stromende regen.
Vanaf minuut 1 was duidelijk dat de Broncos gefocused waren en dat hun running game ook begon te lopen. Ondanks dat is het een lange 60 yard pass van QB Tom Wolterink naar wide receiver Daan Berntsen waarmee de score wordt geopend, dezelfde combinatie zorgt er ook voor dat de 2 point conversion gescoord word en er 00-08 op het scorebord komt.
De Broncos defense wil hier niet voor onder doen en een prachtige interception van defensive back Sven Mollinga wordt door hem terug gerend voor 6 punten, helaas worden er geen extra punten gemaakt, score 00-14.
In het 2e kwart wordt nu dan ook de goeie runningame van de Broncos omgezet in punten door een fantastische 35 yard touchdown run van running back Mathis Elling. De 2 extra punten worden binnengerend door QB Tom Wolterink, 00-22. Dezelfde Mathis Elling doet in hetzelfde kwart nogmaals van zich spreken met een 20 yard touchdown, geen 2 extra punten dit keer dus 00-28.
Na met nog 7 seconden op de klok nog een poging gedaan te hebben een fieldgoal te scoren die helaas mis gaat is het rust.
De Broncos houden de focus en willen voorkomen dat de machine na rust stil komt te vallen.
Er wordt scherp gestart maar toch moet de defense wat terreinwinst laten aan de gevarieerde Maastrichtse aanval. Net op tijd wordt hun drive gestopt en komt de aanval van de Broncos het veld weer op. Een mooie actie van running back Hensley Sanchez die net doet alsof hij de bal heeft zorgt ervoor dat Daan Berntsen de ruimte krijgt om zijn 2e TD van de dag te noteren, hierna scoort Hensley Sanchez nog de 2 extra punten, 00-36.
Het 4e kwart kenmerkt zich door de snel aflopende klok aangezien er veel met de bal gerend wordt voornamelijk worden er veel yards gepakt door Hensley Sanchez, maar het is weer een pass van Tom op Daan die er voor zorgt dat de eindstand op 00-42 bepaald wordt.
Eindelijk zijn de Broncos op stoom gekomen en hebben het geloof in zichzelf hervonden, helaas komt het telaat in het seizoen. Toch beloofd de seizoensafsluiter thuis tegen de Eindhoven Raptors op 12 juni een absolute knaller te worden, we bedanken al onze supporters voor de geweldige steun dit seizoen en hopen iedereen op 12-06 om 14:00 langs het veld te zien om het seizoen samen op een fantastische manier af te sluiten.

Broncos recover their selfconfidence

Last season a spot in the final but knocked out for a playoff place this season. atleast close the season in a positive manner was the collective thought amongst the Broncos.
At 8 in the morning the team gathered at the Horstman Sportpark and went on there 3 hour journey to Maastricht to play against the Wildcats.
Kickoff was at 14:00pm in the pouring rain on the beautiful facilities of Maastricht.
From the start the Broncos looked focused and there running game finally took off, despite this it was a long 60 yard pass from QB Tom Wolterink to wide receiver Daan Berntsen which opened the score, that same combination made sure also the 2 extra points were converted, score 00-08.
Now the Broncos defense felt like it was their time to shine and a beautifully caught interception by defensive back Sven Mollinga was returned by him for another 6 points, unfortunately no 2 extra points so 00-14.
In the second quarter the strong running game of the Broncos would also be converted in points by a fanatastic 35 touchdown run by running back Mathis Elling, 2 extra points from QB Tom Wolterink, 00-22. The same Mathis Elling repeats the same feat within the quarter with a 20 yard TD, no extra points this time though, 00-28. Just before half time the Broncos get a chance at a fieldgoal but miss it unfortunately.
The Broncos stay focused and at any cost want to prevent that in the second half there flow will end.
The focused start cant prevent the Maastricht Wildcats to gain yards on the Broncos defense using variance in there attack. The broncos stop the drive just in time and when the Broncos offense regain the field its a clever move from runnin back Hensley Sachez who pretends to carry the ball that makes that Daan finds the space he needs to catch his second TD of the day. Hensley Sanchez scores the extra 2 points making it 00-36.
In the 4th quarter the running game makes the clock run down quickly, with Hensley Sanchez gaining alot of yards, but again its a pass from Tom on Daan that finishes the game with a score of 00-42.
Finally it seems the Broncos have regained the faith in themselves, unfortunately to late in the season. Despite that, the final game at home against the Eindhove Raptors promises to be a spectacular finish of the season. The Broncos want to thank all there fans for the awesome support during the season and we hope to see you all at the sidelines on the 12th of june at 14:00pm to end the season on a high together.
