Broncos sparren met Eindhoven Raptors

Halverwege de week bereikte de Broncos het slechte nieuws dat het de Eindhoven Raptors niet ging lukken om de benodigde 18 speelgerechtigde spelers te verzamelen voor de wedstrijd van afgelopen zondag. Hierdoor werd de wedstrijd een reglementaire 20-0 overwinning voor de Enschede Broncos. Gelukkig bleken de Raptors toch bereid te zijn om af te reizen naar Enschede om de Broncos hun thuiswedstrijd te gunnen en een mooie pot te spelen.

Door de bovengenoemde omstandigheden werd er verwacht dat de Broncos zouden winnen tegen een team wat duidelijk diepte miste. De Raptors waren tenslotte maar met 13 spelers naar Enschede afgereisd. Ondanks dit nummerieke nadeel, gaven de Eindhovenaren zich niet zomaar gewonnen. Op pure wilskracht en met een paar mooie runs wisten de Raptors ook punten op het bord te krijgen. Daarnaast bood deze wedstrijd een mooie kans om te werken aan de patronen op de offense. Deze gingen naar mate het seizoen vorderde steeds beter lopen.

Al met al was het een prachtige zonnige dag vol football. Waarbij een redelijk aantal toeschouwers kon genieten van mooie highlights. De dag is afgesloten met het afscheid van Olivier Slijk die stopt als speler na jarenlange trouwe dienst als lineman van de Raptors. Wij wensen hem het beste toe.

Voor de Broncos was dit het einde van de competitie, maar op 10-07 zullen wij het seizoen afsluiten met onze jaarlijkse gezamenlijke training en vriendschappelijke wedstrijd met zustervereniging Bocholt Rhinos. De kick-off hiervan zal plaatsvinden om 14:00u en wordt om 16:30u gevolgd door een BBQ met drankjes (kosten BBQ inclusief drank €15,- per persoon). Wij nodigen al onze fans van harte uit om bij deze dag aanwezig te zijn en deel te nemen aan de BBQ.

Broncos spar with Eindhoven Raptors

Last week bad news reached the Broncos because the Raptors weren’t able to get the needed 18 licensed players together for the season closer at Enschede. Because the raptors didn’t have enough players, the Broncos received an administrative 20-00 win. Luckily for the Broncos, the Raptors were willing to travel to Enschede to give the Broncos their home game and play a fun match of football.

Given the circumstances a win for the Broncos was expected against a team that played with a significant numerical disadvantage. However, this didn’t mean that they would go down without a fight. After several good runs they even got points on the board. For the Broncos this friendly game was an excellent chance to work on their offensive plays. The Broncos offense continued their upward spiral which started in the second half of the season.

All in all it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day of football. The crowd that turned up for this friendly game got to see some nice highlights. After the game there was a tribute to longtime Raptors lineman Olivier Slijk who decided to retire. Our best wishes go out to him.

The Broncos will end their season with a friendly game against sister organization Bocholt Rhinos on the 10th of July. This friendly game will kick off at 14:00h at the home field of the Broncos. At around 16:30h we’ll host a BBQ with drinks (€15 per person), for which all our fans are invited.
