Nipt verlies voor de Enschede Broncos

Utrecht, 10-04-2016. Door het gebrek aan scheidsrechters werd de eerste thuiswedstrijd tegen de Spijkenisse Scouts in Utrecht gespeeld. Verrassend genoeg had de Broncos vorig jaar de wedstrijden tegen de Scouts gewonnen, hierdoor lag er extra druk op de wedstrijd. Dus het is jammer dat de wedstrijd met 21-28 werd verloren. De geeft wel blijk van een groei aan de kant van Spijkenisse, en een hoop verbeter punten aan de kant van Enschede.

De wedstrijd begon met balbezit voor de Scouts. Waarna door een fumble recovery het bal bezit naar de Broncos gaat. Deze eerste drive begon met Broncos nieuwste aanwinst RB Hensly Sanches, waarbij hij een 80 yards touchdown rende. Helaas werd vanwege een penalty in het spel de touchdown afgekeurd. Vervolgens werd de drive beëindigde met een touchdown gemaakt door QB Tom Wolterink (6-0). Hierna waren de Scouts weer aan de beurt waarna safety Jesper Jeeninga de bal onderschept en hem terug loopt voor een touchdown (13-0). Daarna mogen de Scouts weer met de bal beginnen om na paar goeie plays te worden gestopt door Sebastiaan Salamon door middel van een interceptie. Nu heeft de Broncos weer de bal. Deze drive eindigde in een gegooide interceptie op de Scouts waarna zij hem terug lopen voor hun eerste touchdown (13-6). Vervolgens heeft de Scouts nog de mogelijkheid nog twee touchdowns te score voor de halftime (13-20). In de rust proberen de Broncos zichzelf weer op te pakken om hierna de tweede helft te beginnen met bal bezit. In het begin van de tweede helft eindigden er meerdere drives met een wissel van balbezit, totdat de Scouts de kans zien om een touchdown te score (13-28).Daarna weten de Broncos met een QB sneak van Tom Wolterink het 21-28 te maken. Nu begint de wedstrijd heel spannend te worden omdat er maar één touchdown verschil is tussen beide teams. Na een zware drive weet de Broncos verdediging de scouts te stopen om de Broncos nog één maal de bal te geven. Deze laatste drive begon met nog maar 50 seconden op de klok. Met een paar goed gegooide ballen weten de Broncos te eindigen op de 5 yard lijn maar omdat de tijd op was, eindigde hier de wedstrijd met 21-28 en een verlies voor de Broncos.

A close loss for the Enschede broncos

Utrecht, 10-4-2016. The first home game of the Enschede Broncos this season was played in Utrecht because of a shortage of referees. The game started at 11:30 against the Spijkenisse Scouts. Last year Enschede had won from the Scouts surprisingly. Because of this there was some extra pressure on this game for both teams to win. Regrettably the Broncos lost against the Scouts with a score of 21-28. This score shows the growth of the Scouts and the need for improvement of the Broncos.

The game started with the ball possession of the Scouts. After a few plays they lost the ball with a fumble to the Broncos. The first play was made by our new running back Hensley Sanches on which he made an 80 yard touchdown. But because of a foul in the play the touchdown was declined. The rest of the drive of the Broncos ended in a touchdown made by QB Tom Wolterink (6-0). The next drive of the Scouts ended with a pick6 from safety Jesper Jeeninga (13-0). After this the Scouts have the ball again. The Scouts execute some good plays but loos the ball to an interception. Now the Broncos have ball possession but after a few plays the quarterback throws an interception that the scouts turn into a pick6 (13-6). In the next plays de Scouts made another 2 touchdowns before the halftime making the score 13-20. During the rest the Broncos try to pick themselves up to start the second half with ball possession. At the start of the second half multiple plays ended with a change of possession until the Scouts manage to score another touchdown (13-28). After that the broncos managed to score with a quarterback sneak of Tom Wolterink making the score 21-28. Now the game got more exciting because there was only one touchdown difference between the teams. After several rough plays the Broncos defense managed to stop the Scouts giving the ball to the Broncos offence for one last time. This last drive started with only 50 seconds on the clock. After a couple of nice passes the ball ended up on the 5 yards line but because the time ran out this was where the drive ended. This ended the game with a score of 21-28 and a loss for the Broncos.
